 3PL (3rd Party Logistics) : Services provided by the third logistics company in order to perform all or just one part of the supply chain management  (procurement, warehousing, distribution...)

 
4PL (4th Party Logistics)
4PL (4th Party Logistics): Concept of total externalisation of the management of the supply chain. Logistic service provider is controling, planning and coordinating the flow of the information in the supply chain. He is not executing physical activities of the goods flow but he is in charge of the architecture of the supply chain.
